Beth, I know a few folks in Mobile! I can get some good recommendations for food, coffee, things to do, etc. for you if you’d like! Cool area! :)
anonymousParticipantThanks for sharing, Caroline! We are about to move to Alabama, near Mobile. Giving a shout to see if anyone else here is in that area.
anonymousParticipantHi there! This answer was helpful for me as well. Going a step further, I’m curious on advice to explain homeschooling to my son. Hes 2 1/2. We’ve read a lot of books with characters that go to school, and now my son associates school with getting on a bus and being in a classroom with a teacher around friends and classmates. Any advice on how to explain to him that that is not the route we’re taking with him?
anonymousParticipantI just finished “Digital Minimalism” by Cal Newport. I think this is one of the most important books for the world at large right now! I highly, highly recommend it. I especially think it is important for us to read as parents.
anonymousParticipantWayne, MI about 20 minutes outside of Detroit! My son is 2 1/2 with another on the way!
anonymousParticipantI’m from Australia – Scone NSW to be more precise :)
anonymousParticipantDayton, Ohio! My kids are 4, 2.5, and 7m😊
anonymousParticipantSmoothies!
I lean on these when my Littles are poo-pooing fruits or veggies in their natural form ;)
Also, coming from a half Japanese family, we have large sheets of nori (seaweed) in our home for sushi/temaki making. I like to cut shapes out of these sheets to give with other snacks. Food should be a bit fun, no?!
anonymousParticipantI like Kenneth’s suggestion! What has worked for me is just to make running off always something that we punished them for. So basically, however you punish, do it EVERY time they did that. And immediately. So if you use timeout, then get them and sit them down on the sidewalk in timeout. Show them that their safety is the most important thing and that you care enough to discipline them until they remember to obey and stay close. THey will get sick of you doing it hopefully. :)
anonymousParticipantThanks Other Goose and Melissa! I brought a roll of washi tape with us! heehee. Left when it was bedtime for the kiddos last night and was able to get a solid 6hrs of driving in. woohoo!
anonymousParticipantThat is great! Good job, Melissa!
anonymousParticipantI don’t have any advice for places to stop or things to see, but I have travelled all over Canada with my 2 year old, he’s been on over 30 flights, some long, some short, and we’ve done a few road trips. Every time you stop for gas/food/bathroom, try to pick areas where the 3 year old can stretch and run to let out that pent up energy. Even 20 minutes of play can help for the next stretch of sitting.
anonymousParticipanti love love LOVE balloons! and stickers! but lately been trying to avoid the use of plastic. i’m wondering about origami balloons of some kind. maybe there’s a paper replacement! i’m sure it would be just as pretty.
anonymousParticipantBecky it is quite an adventure! We’ve had snow since October and last month quite a few -50° days. Small communities are great! Wouldn’t mind a Tim Hortons though. (^^)
anonymousParticipantI just wanted to update and say thanks again for the advice. My son will occasionally give his sister kisses and has even hugged her unprompted!
