Our family is about to embark on a month long camping road trip. Mainly sticking to the warmer states like Florida, Louisiana, South Carolina, Georgia, etc. Any suggestions are welcome! Stops to make, Road trip tips, whatever you have! My husband and I will be traveling with our 5 month old and 3 year old. We’re coming from Toronto Canada and driving south. 😊

I don’t have any advice for places to stop or things to see, but I have travelled all over Canada with my 2 year old, he’s been on over 30 flights, some long, some short, and we’ve done a few road trips. Every time you stop for gas/food/bathroom, try to pick areas where the 3 year old can stretch and run to let out that pent up energy. Even 20 minutes of play can help for the next stretch of sitting.

Hi Becky — what an adventure! We can’t wait to hear all about it! :)

I echo Melissa’s thoughts, and also would add that a roll of washi tape was THE BEST road trip “toy” ever when we drove our 3-year-old 15 hours to visit grandma. ;) She made balls and letters and patterns and art, and each roll was inexpensive / didn’t take up a lot of space. I still carry it in the diaper bag for plane rides!

Enjoy!!! What wonderful memories you’ll all keep. :)

Thanks Other Goose and Melissa! I brought a roll of washi tape with us! heehee. Left when it was bedtime for the kiddos last night and was able to get a solid 6hrs of driving in. woohoo!

Washi tape is a favorite at home – and a great thing to bring along on our next trip! I have also loved modeling clay and window clings. A pretend microphone or paper plate steering wheel have provided entertainment. A dear friend who is a military mama (and often driving long distances to new homes or faraway family members) wraps old toys or small games so that her kids can unwrap interactive “gifts” periodically as they make long drives.
